Things That Make Me Happy

People of my year 2011

I got this idea when I came across Bianca's blog. Media publishes a list of people that made significant impact over the year that was. Well, this is my version of it, the difference is that these are the people that influenced, moved, and inspired my year 2011. This is my little way of saying thank you for what they have done whether they know it or not.

Nadine Crescilde B. Adriatico

Nads and I have know each other for almost 3 years now (ever since I started working at TMC) but it was only last year that we've gotten really close. 2011 was a tough year for me, and just when I tought that nobody can understand me and what I'm going through, she opened up her life to me. She is truly one of the most inspiring person you would ever meet. That talk at 711 in Buendia at the middle of the night changed how I look at things and the challenges I was facing. She literally saved me. I've learned the appreciation of having time for yourself, pursuing our dreams, making new dreams, discovering our passion, while waiting for that someone that God has prepared for us. This free-spirit, fun loving girl is a true beauty, inside and out.

Desiree Cuevas

'Desia Maldita' as we fondly call her. She has this weird characteristic of being maldita while staying prim and proper. So cute! haha... She is one of the most good-hearted person you would meet. A true friend, she supports you and makes you believe in yourself and what you can be. I’m so happy knowing that this year will be one of her happiest. Good things happen to good people.

Alexis A. Mago

Lexia! In his own words, maswerte ako na friend ko cya, half man and half woman. :) He understands me, a real friend who would stand by you and try to make you laugh even when your messed up. Sometimes he even surprises me by analyzing me. He's truly wonderful, and amazing. A force to be reckon with, not just as a great nurse but as an all around inspiring man.

Ian Mendez

My 'kuya', in every sense of the word. Ian has been my crying shoulder, my laughing buddy, my ka-chismisan, ka-kwentuhan, kasama sa panglalait, my kunsintedor! Lucky for me we both have the same twisted sense of humor! haha... ang taong walang sawang nakikinig sa mga paulit ulit kong kwento! He is my mojo booster! 'kaya mo yan ate' were often the words I would hear from him every time I feel down. He's someone that I know would stand up for me, even if im wrong, although pag kami na lang alam kong pagagalitan nya ko! haha... Kuyang kuya. His love for Kristina is something that would inspire you. This is the couple that I have confidence would make it to the end. Theirs is a love that grew more and more as time passed by.

Czervina Cabrera-Sallan

My bestfriend since the very first day of college! Yes, the very first day! Beki is an amazing woman, true friend, wonderful wife, and now a new mother, in which I know she'll be awesome! This girl has been my rock at the lowest point of my life. It's true what they say, 'maybe it's not blood bonds that makes us family, perhaps it's the people who knows our secrets and loves us anyway'. She's one of the biggest blessing in my life.

Charo B. Adame

Ofcourse Cha would make it on my list! One of my bestest friend in the world! missing her so much! She has the attitude that makes you wonder how a four feet, eleven inches woman can be so strong. Her perseverance and determination made her an achiever, not only in the field of her career but as a woman that loves and wants the best for her family.

Joset Karen Cometa
Meow! Karen and I have known each other since college, although we don't get to see each other as often as before, we know that we're still there for each other. I’m so thankful that God has given me a chance to know someone who has a positive outlook in life. It’s an honor being friends with her.

Ayna de Luna
Strong-willed, determined woman, a person who's faithful to her beliefs. I love her! She's one of a kind. Having conversations with her, makes you think and learn about everything, life in general. She's smart, honest, opinionated and her experiences in life and how she handles it makes her shine.

Generalyn H. Quiambao
Bessie! Ghen is a nurturer, she takes care of everyone dear to her, very maalaga. I've known her since highschool, she may have this aura that's intimidating but once you get to know her, she's very thoughtful and warm. She would even probably be one of the sweetest person you would know.

My Family
My family ofcourse is on this list. I thank the Lord for giving them to me.

I feel blessed having these people in my life. How about you, who are the people that made it to your list?

Hello Cebu! Naa na mga GWAPA!!!

From the shores of Dumaguete, we traveled to the Queen City of the South...CEBU! :) We took a twenty minute boat ride from Dumaguete to Lilo-an, Cebu then another three hour bus ride to get to the city.

After the long, fun travel... we finally reached Cebu City. And as the title of this blog entry says, the (ehem! ehem!) gwapas have arrived. ^_^ We went straight to Jacinth Pension House, which my cousin suggested. It's far from a fancy hotel but it's clean, have a good space, it offers a free wi-fi, and it's at the heart of the city, in fact, from where it is, it will only take you a good 15 minute walk to reach the city hall. Plus the price is only 1/8 compared to how much you will be spending when you stay in a five star hotel. The fact that we will be staying in Cebu for only two days means we wont be spending much time there so why waste too much money on a fancy hotel, right? (excuses ng mga travellers on a budget! haha..)

OVERVIEW FROM THE LONELY PLANET:

As far as most visitors are concerned, Cebu City is Manila minus the mayhem. Its traffic is chaotic, but not insane. Its size and layout can actually be understood, rather than merely endured. And - sigh - hardly any of the taxi drivers here are employed by Satan.

With a vast seaport, an international airport, two giant shopping malls, a modern business park and several universities, Cebu City has achieved metropolis status without coming to resemble the ninth circle of hell.

The Philippine Taoist Temple is located inside Beverly Hills subdivision (sounds sosyal, dba?), unfortunately, aside from taxis, public transportation is not allowed inside, so on our way out we had to walk, until a good samaritan offered us a ride.... on his truck. :) We were happy to hop in and we enjoyed every moment of it! ^_^

The highlight of our Cebu trip was our little adventure at the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, dito nasubukan talaga ang tapang namin! The Sky Experience Adventure offers a lot of adventure-filled activities, we tried the Sky Walk Extreme and the Edge Coaster. It was fun... hmmm... but... it scared the heck out of me! As in, sa sobrang takot ko pakiramdam ko humiwalay ang kaluluwa ko sa katawang lupa ko! O_O Yah, yah, laugh all u want, but being tilted at the egde of the 38th floor building, 130.84 meters above the ground, ewan ko lang kung di kayo matakot! Tipong pag nahulog ka, kelangan pa ng dental records mo para lang ma identify ka! haha...

The Jamba Experience

The other day, after the monthly unit meeting and the dreaded proficiency exam, Nadine, Desiree and I decided to look for some refreshment. We heard that a little store called 'Jamba Juice' just opened it's first branch in Southeast Asia at the Bonifacio High Street Central, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, so off we go!

Turned out, this "little store" is a craze in America, with it's 700+ branches scattered all over the world. So now, we really HAVE to try it! O_O

They have so many flavors and mixes that you can try. You can also add boosters free of charge. And, there's a free photobooth in the house! Free! Free! Free! Yey! (haha...so pinoy of me!) ^_^

I recommend you try it. It's a good break from coffee..(maiba naman paminsan minsan..dba? hehe..) Here's a video I found online about Jamba Juice. Hope to see you enjoy your Jamba Juice. :)

Dumaguete: The City of Gentle People

Last February, me, Alex, Nads, Ate Des, and Ate Mel took our first trip together. Destination: the City of Gentle People. We had an early morning flight, so early na kinakabahan kami kc baka may malate pa sa min. We kept texting each other nung morning na un, making sure na gising na ang lahat and everybody's on their way to the airport. We wouldn't want to be left by the plane because of our sleepy head right? haha... We especially kept texting and reminding mam Nads to be early, "bawal ma LATE ha!? okie?" turned out, cya pa nauna sa min lahat! haha... (excited much? or narindi ka na sa kakasabi namin na bawal malate?) haha... Anyway, we were there just on time...

We were picked at the airport by my Tita Tina, my mom’s sister. She gave us a quick city tour, and then we met up with her hubby Tito Clint and my cousin Ate Sha for lunch.

We were oh-so excited to swim sa beach, however, the waves were insanely big! Galit na galit! But we still tried! (baka kayanin) hahaha.... (desperate?) Well, let the photos speak for themselves...

Knowing us, cyempre we refuse to let some big waves stop us from having some fun on water! So, since mother nature is doing her thing on the beach, we were happy to do our thing with the man made pool. ^_^

A new story to tell.

I think it's time for me to tell a story that would give you a glimpse of who I am.

I was not the kind of girl who always has a boyfriend, not the one everybody thinks as the sexy, gorgeous, mahinhin, girlfriend-material type. In gradeschool, I really was a kid! I go to school without combing my hair; I have the biggest bag ever! filled with books and notebooks!--> nah, don't get me wrong, I like to study, but, I was not the genius one either, I just like to carry all those books ‘coz I thought it made cool...apparently not! haha! I played whatever game there is, Chinese garter, 10-20, langit lupa, agawan base, etc. I learned taekwondo, swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, chess (I was once a champion! oh yeh), darts, etc. Some of which I was just forced to learn so I can participate in our school’s sportsfest. I did not have my "kikaykit" up until my junior years... (yes, I know... latebloomer) and oh, I also use to wear the dorkiest glasses ever! (Thank heavens for contact lenses). Needless to say, I am NOT the girly girl type. Oh well, considering all my siblings are boys and my dad is in the military, I think you'll forgive me. Right?! :)

Anyway, I choose to begin my story this way because through those years, one man changed me...(oh yes, this is about a BOY.) He may not know the impact he had on my life, as we never really had the typical boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.

In school, he was considered Mr. popular; many girls (even pa-girls) had a crush on him. I really don’t remember why he has that effect on girls (and pa-girls). Hmmm...well, he is good-looking, although he's not that tall, he plays basketball exceptionally well, he is charming without even trying, he's quiet (which I think makes him mysterious to everyone who doesn't know him), and I must admit, he has an amazing smile. ---> okay, now I remember. ^_^

So imagine the shock I got when somebody told me he has a crush on me! HA! me?! O_o (for real? WEH?) Even I couldn't believe! It's the next thing to impossible!

Anyway, this boy saw me pass my glasses, big bag, clumsy moves, non-sense jokes, and not so girly moves... He did have a crush on me!!! But I wasn't ready for that kind for relationship, so I said no. (haba ng hair! haha!) We became closer and closer as time goes by... we became bestfriends! You must be thinking typical "cheesy" tag name for people who doesn't want to be in a relationship but have feelings of more than that of a friend for each other... well, YOU’RE RIGHT!! haha! It gave me a chance to know him better... when you get to know him, madaldal cya! okay, makwento! I can hear the excitement on his voice pag may bago cyang ikukwento sa kin through our kwentuhan sa phone marathon! There's more to him than his looks. He's smart - he has a lot to say (opinions that are sensible). He can sing- he sings for me on the phone and by the waterfalls. (mushy na kung mushy!) He’s sweet – we made our own prom so that he can dance with me because we did not have the chance to do it at our prom night. He likes to eat—a lot, I must say.  He's witty, sometimes weird, he stands firm about his beliefs, he has his dreams – I remember how he once told me that he wants to be an astronaut one day, he has a big heart.

He’s someone who is bound for greatness... and he doesn't even know it.

The friendship eventually became real... he had his relationships, and I was busy for whatever it is that's keeping me busy at that time (I can't really remember), still, we were there for each other. :) BEZfriends. :)

Because of him, I wanted to be better. He inspires me.

Highschool ended and here comes college. We were supposed to go to the same college, but I backed out the last minute, imagine nakapag enroll na ko't lahat biglang binawi ni mommy, kc don na lang daw ako sa mas malapit sa min... di daw kc ako marunong magcommute! Darn it!

Anyway, if I tell you every details of our story, this blog entry would turn into a novel, so..... *skip*.

2009, as we cross paths, we gave it a shot... US..in a relationship. We were exceptionally happy. But sadly it ended... details of this we shall skip too... *skip*

Recently, we cross paths again, this time I realize that he was not the person I knew and loved. So many things have changed… People do change, that’s when you realize that sometimes, no matter how important people are to you, you have to let them go, so that you can move forward.

I've been there...crazy inlove. Although it did not end the way I wished, I am still thankful it happened, because of that, I laughed, I cried, I loved, I hurt, I was strong, I was weak, I've been crazy!............... I felt emotions I never knew existed, I did a lot of things I never thought I would do. I LEARNED... a lot. That is why he will always be my superhero... my superm*n. ^_^ - I'd like to remember him that way, the person I gave my heart out. The one who inspired me.

It's amazing how God gives us someone that would make us realize who we are, what we can do, and how we can make our life better. Someone who makes us realize that life is exciting, that we only live this life once, and we should make the most of it. Even if that someone isn't there to stay with us through our journey. Our BIG DUDE up there cares enough to make us realize that we can have a fresh start.

Well, enough said...

Recently, God opened a new chapter in my life. While it may sound exciting and full of new adventures for me to conquer, it also means the end of something important. Entering this new chapter means accepting that the last one has ended. Yes, the one that I hoped and prayed would last forever. I am now...finally, letting it be...(drum roll please)... the PAST. I do not know what the future holds, but, here I am, throwing away a bit of my privacy so that I could share those adventures with you! Yes... YOU! Heeelleew strangers! (if you even care) haha! Come and join me as I take on my personal journey through life. :) LOVE, PEACE AND HAPPINESS!!!

Love...

For once, I wanna be the girl he's scared to lose. The girl he can't walk away from knowing i'm mad at him. I wanna be with the one who can't fall asleep without my voice being the last one he hears. The one he can't live without..

My Life as a Nurse

Since 2009, I've been working as an angel in a sick room, in a more common term.. a NURSE. The Medical City in Ortigas is where I practice my profession, and 6A General Ward has been my family for almost two years now. :)
